My Story

Some people write to think. I draw.

When I was working in higher education, I started sketching to clear my head. That small habit sent me looking for research on art-making as a way of understanding things. I read into visual research methods, visual anthropology and creative research methods, and eventually landed on art therapy. One idea stayed with me more than any other: response art, where art is made in resonance to an issue or thought.

When I moved from Germany to Montréal in 2023, I was rebuilding everything: language, culture and routine. I joined an art hive and took several art courses to help find community. It gave me more than that. It gave me a way back into resonance, those moments when we truly meet the world and let it change us. That search became the foundation for Studio Kaléidoscope.

Why this exists

Studio Kaléidoscope is a creative wellness practice based on Montréal's North Shore. I offer art-based workshops for individuals and organizations who want to slow down, reconnect with creativity and give themselves permission to play, without the pressure of a finished result.

The workshops are not art classes. There are no techniques to master and no results to judge. They are spaces to experiment, to notice what happens when you make something with your hands and to use that process as a way to slow down, reflect and reconnect.

Who I am

I'm Judith, the founder and facilitator behind Studio Kaléidoscope. I bring over ten years of experience teaching and facilitating in university settings, where I learned how to create spaces where people feel comfortable enough to think out loud, take risks and engage with ideas in new ways. That experience shapes how I run every workshop.

I hold a certification in Therapeutic Arts Practice facilitation from the Canadian International Institute of Art Therapy (CiiAT). My academic background includes a BA (Hons) and an MBA in tourism management, with a focus on consumer behaviour and moral disengagement, work that was already grounded in understanding how people think, feel and make decisions. Art-making, meanwhile, has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Studio Kaléidoscope is where these two threads finally come together.

I am not a clinical therapist and these workshops are not therapy. They are grounded in therapeutic arts research and designed to support wellbeing, not to treat or diagnose.

My own creative practice shifts with my curiosity. Right now, stained glass has my heart and that's where the name comes from. A kaleidoscope brings fragments together into something unexpected and whole. That's what I believe about people too: everyone brings different facets, different experiences and something new emerges when we create together.

Who this is for

Whether you're an individual curious about using creativity to manage stress, or an organization looking to offer your team or community something genuinely restorative, you're in the right place. No artistic experience needed. Curiosity is enough.

I'd love to hear what you're looking for. Feel free to get in touch.
